About Acoustic Guitar Pick Guards

Please read this entire page if you are considering purchasing an acoustic pick guard
By clicking through this page you acknowledge you have read and understand everything on this page.
The link to the acoustic pick guard section is at the bottom of this page.

I get a lot of questions about acoustic pick guards, Things like "do you have such and such in stock" or "I don't see my pick
guard on your site what do I do" and of course many others that I have attempted to answer here on the site already.

While I realize that a lot of text can be a lot to read it is here for the specific reason of informing you of what I have, need
or can do for you in terms of making you a pick guard.

First let me say that I do not stock any finished pick guards I make every order custom as it comes into my shop.
I do work primarily alone in all aspects so it can take time to complete. See my turnaround time info. here.

When choosing a replacement acoustic pick guard there are many things to consider. First and foremost is material thickness.
Most acoustic pick guards are made from thinner materials. I have a variety of acoustic pick guard materials available.

Common Question
What is the difference between these acoustic materials and other materials?

Answer
I call these acoustic materials because they are thinner than standard pick guard materials commonly used
for electric guitars and basses. Acoustic Guitar pick guard materials are generally thinner in the range of .020
to .060. The thicker and larger the pick guard is that you apply to your guitar will have more and more of an effect
on the tone. For example, if you have a very thin little pick guard and you want to replace it with a larger thicker
pick guard you should expect to hear some difference in how the guitar sounds.

While it is not unheard of to use a .090 thicker electric guitar material, it is not considered an industry standard practice.

In addition, if you are adding a pick guard to an acoustic guitar that did not come with a pick guard then you should also
expect a change in the tone of the guitar.

If you don't see what you need in my Acoustic Pick Guards section.

That means I don't have it but I can probably still help you. You can either send me an original pick guard or a tracing
to duplicate or you can provide a full scale drawing of your own unique design and I can work from that.
Please read this linked page about sending me things.

You can also download PDF outlines for each acoustic pick guard I offer, cut them out and place them on your
guitar for a quick fit check. If one does not fit then you can modify it by either drawing the changes on it or cutting
it to shape and submitting it as a mock up for me to work from.

To find the PDF outlines you will have to click on the More Info. buttons on the next page, as you click through this page,
to get to the page for that specific pick guard. If you have trouble finding or downloading the PDF outline then you can
request it by email.

If the PDF outline is close but you want a different sound hole cut radius then there are options on the order page for you to
indicate that you want a custom sound hole radius. A $5.00 additional fee will apply to any sound hole radius modification.

Any new templates that need to be created based off of originals, tracings, custom designs or modified PDF outlines
will require a $10.00 template setup fee in addition to the pick guard price.

How to determine pick guard price.

Prices for all pick guards are based off of material selection and are pretty much the same for all pick guard shapes I offer.
You will need to click through the link at the bottom of this page then click on the More Info. button for the pick guard
you are interested in. Look at the materials drop down lists to determine price. Note that there are two drop down lists.
one for acoustic materials which is the recommended choice and one for other materials. Other materials being the thicker
types of materials used for electric guitars and not really recommended for use on acoustics due to tone changes that may occur.

Each material in the list has a price indicated next to it which is the price for that pick guard in that material.

What I cannot Do.

I cannot cover all of the bases and create a blanket policy or easy ordering system for every situation. Nor can I keep
up will all web site updates for every product at all times for every scenario. What this means is that you may find
certain situations that are not covered or materials not available in a drop down list. Please feel free to contact me after
you have read all of the information on this page and I'll do what I can to assist you.

I cannot re-create the graphics on pick guards such as the DOVE or FG300 or any similar pick guard that is OEM.
(Original Equipment Manufacture)

I cannot engrave any standard pick guard materials such as pearls or tortoise of any kind.

What I can Do.

I can add certain graphics to pick guards using my laser engraver but I am very limited to what materials I can engrave.
The materials listed in the acoustic materials gallery indicate what can and cannot be engraved and there is also additional
information there.

All acoustic pick guards come with adhesive backing for easy peel and stick installation.
